Branded title

In my quest to sell one of the mustangs, which is officially over by the way (keeping both!!), someone carfaxed the Cobra and discovered it has a "branded, not actual mileage title". I was unaware of this and honestly do not know what that means. Anyone have any insight? Should I take any legal action against the previous owner for not revealing this? Does anyone have unlimited carfax request and can look into this for me? Thanks guys.

it has to do with the milage on the vechicle, some places where the vehicle has been got the wrong milage entered., I've had emissions testing done where they wrote down the wrong mileage. Mileage is about worthless for determining remaining useful life of a vehicle.

It means at some point the cars gauge cluster was replaced if I'm not mistaken. Meaning the new odometer might say one thing but the car is actually more. Could be alot more or just a little more.

Ive heard of people doing it before they sell cars, so they can make more money on the car cuz a lot of people don't check Carfax. It's only illegal if they don't report it. And yours seems to be reported. But I could be completely wrong.

I asked the DMV today, basically what you guys are saying. Doesn't really mean anything is wrong with the car, just that something dealing with the mileage has happened. Oh well, I don't personally think it hurts the value much if I ever do sell it. Thanks for the responses guys.

Also, the DMV can check the car out for you and clear the problem. Well, sometimes they can, sometimes they can't. Depends on what actually happened. I hope to get it cleared.
