Ok San Diego, the Veteran's Day parade committee is again seeking for convertibles for this year's parade. I just received this email, so if anyone is interested to having their convertible to be part of the parade, please read the email as there will be a registration event on 7/14. This year, they want to recognize the drivers as well. Wicked Stangs has participated in this parade for the past 3 years and have received many positive feedbacks. Please, if you are able, come on out.

Dear Convertible Volunteers;

My name is Bill Colford; I am writing to you as past volunteer drivers in the Veterans Parade, to ask you to volunteer again and for your assistance in getting the word out to anyone who would like to join us for the parade as a Parade Vehicle. Please see the attached flyer; we at the San Diego Veterans Day Parade are organizing Convertibles and other notable vehicles for the parade. To make this event more organized and car people friendly we are hosting a registration day this coming 14th of July (directions are on the flyer) where we will be assigning numbers to vehicles and capture a description of the vehicle and the driver so when the vehicle passes the reviewing stands the announcer can say more than just who the VIP is in the vehicle. Normally we have between 150 and 175 vehicles in the parade so any assistance you can provide is most appreciated.

Ok, I just got a reply from Bill, the organizer of the Veteran's Day parade.


Hi Danny;

I am checking back with you to see if any of your club members want to join us. We will take coupes too. However Convertibles are preferred. If there are, I will send another e-mail with registration forms.

Thanks for the quick reply.

There is the form and if they could send a picture of the car like the attached photo that would be great. We are trying to get enough information on the cars and drivers for the announcers during the parade. The pictures are so they can be easily identified during the parade.

I have the application, but I can't upload it on here. If you are interested, I can email it to you. They are also requesting a piture of our car, so the announcer will know which one is which. As you will see in the registration, they want a little description of the car as they will say something about it in the parade.

Here's another update.

There will be a registration event on Oct 20th, between 8am-2pm at the County Administration Building downtown San Diego, 1600 Pacific Highway. All you need to do is bring the completed registration form and they will take the picture of your car.

I am planning on going down there on the 20th. If anyone else is interested, we can meet at a central location and go down together. I can bring extra copies of the registration form and you can fill it out at the meeting spot. Just RSVP so I know how many copies to make.

For those who cannot go and still wish to participate. Email me at sdsubzero4@cox.net and I will email you a copy of the registration form. You can fill it out and attach a jpeg photo and email it to billmyong@earthlink.net and on the subject line refer to Veterans Day Parade convertible and note you are from Wickedstangs.

Alright, this Saturday I will be going down to register for the Veterans Day Parade. Registration is from 8am-2pm. I'm planning to be down there around 11am. It would be good to have a few convertible or coupe from the club to represent for Veterans Day parade to carry dignitaries on the parade route. We've done this the last few years and this year they will introduce the car and the driver as well. As I posted in a previous post, I can email you the registration form or we can meet somewhere before and give it to whoever is interested prior to the registration. They will take a picture of the car there. If you can't make it, no problem, email me and I will email you the form. You will just need to email it back with a picture of your car to the email: billmyong@earthlink.net

Let me know who's interested and I will designate a meeting spot and time. If I don't get a reply, I will just assume nobody is interested and I will just head straight down to the registration.

How much is what? Its not a car show. They will be using our car to carry dignitaries on the parade route. The registration is to give them some information on the driver and the car so they can announce it during the parade.

I did it last year and got a major calf cramp from driving in the parade. It goes REALLY slow, but I'd like to do it again. Besides, you need to add yellow to the lineup.

Myself, Blueboss, and Screamingyellow registered for the parade today. They are still looking for more convertibles.

Get with me and I'll send you the registration, all you need to do is attached a photo with the registration when you email it back. They will take coupes, too.
