Pan auto?

Went to pan auto today with a buddy who was getting work on his ego and they had all kinds of different parts for all different cars. Has anyone heard anything about them or what kind of work they do. I'm thinking about ordering parts from them and possibly have them do a custom tune for me.

I have heard good and bad; about par for all the shops in San Diego. Why are you going to pay for a custom tune?

from what ive heard they deal mostly with imports, if u are set on getting a custom tune, id highly recommend getting it from a tuner that specializes on your type of car and not a tooner that can mess something up. and for our cars id only recommend greg at ret in downey. worth the drive.

Check out Flawless rides (FR Motorsports).

Flawless Rides is a good group of guys, but I would not take a car there for a tune. As a matter of fact, there are only two trusted tuners in Southern California:
1. Greg at RET
2. Adam at ST Motorsports

Best choice is to purchase BAMA Tunes for life and let them mail order the tunes to you. Every time you modify your car, they will update your tune for "FREE"!!!! Much better tham $500 to $900 a pop. You can hook up a live wire, do some datalogging, we can assist, and have the tune modified specifically to your car.

BAMA TUNES is the best option.

There's also Dyno Tech Motorsports in vista on melrose. I was there on Friday night for their Gearfest 2012 and those cats are cool. They have the red BMW that ran last race at race legal pushin 700hp +. Also our good friend owns Infamous Auto Concept in downtown "Daryl".

I'm sure that all these guys are "COOL" but none have them have tuned a Mustang like Greg and Adam; facts are facts and Cool is just.....................................................................................................................Cool.

ST is good, but IMO the best in So Cal would be GTR Performance in Anaheim. they're a mustang only performance shop and do great work.

CWO is right though, best value is probably BAMA. as long as you don't start running a crazy forced induction setup, a mail order tune will work fine for you. once you start adding power adders then tuning can be tricky and its best to put it on a dyno and tweak it, as everyone's setup will respond just a little different.

Come on man...Emilio runs a BAMA tune in his GT500 with 17psi of boost and 737 to the rear wheels. He had a "custom" dyno tune and nearly blew up the engine due to a cylinder flooded with fuel.

Nothing is better then a tune that fits the way YOU drive. You put in a safe tune, data log the results and then make the adjustments. A "dyno" will never replicate street/track performance. The car has to be data logged in these conditions and tunes adjusted to be safe and optimal.
