My 1996 Gt Build Thread

figured i'd start a build thread to show you guys what my cars been through.

i bought the car on may 21, 2011.
here she is at the dealership:

i then added hood pins, chrome bumper inserts, and a windshield decal.

then came some 3" flowmaster tips.

after all that was done, i decided to paint the calipers red.

around august, i replaced my stock mufflersr:

i bought a set of flowmaster super 44's and i also got some clear corners.

i took apart my gauge cluster and painted the arrows red. (originally orange)

heres what she looked like around that time:

i then pushed for a cleaner look, so i removed the side rocker stripes and bought brand new 6000K silverstar bulbs and 8000K fog's.

i was in need of a new headunit because my old one did not have an aux. input.
went with a boss headunit with USB, SDcard, & Aux inputs.

It was just about time to change the wheels, so i got some polished 03 cobra wheels as well as some wider tires in the back (275/40/17).

Then i needed more rumble, so i ordered an off road x-pipe.
Got that installed the very next day.

old pipe with 6 cats.. ugh.

I then snatched these HID's for $25 brand new. Color temperature is 8000K.

and yes i really need to do the lowering springs!

i guess you could say i'm too lazy to take them to get installed.
but i will definitely have them on by the end of this winter!

yea, once you get those springs you'll be a happy camper! but be prepared for a drastic difference in ride quality. I only lowered mine 1.4" and it's pretty rough, but the way it looks offsets the ride

how hard was it to take of those side stripes?? I've been wanting to do that too, but I attempted once and those babies were not budging

is was actually quite easy. use a heat gun or hair drier to wear down the sticker, then just peel it off. then go to your local walmart or auto store and buy some goo-off. that gets rid of the sticky residue like a charm! you couldnt even tell i use to have them on mine

yea i know it looks way better w/ out those stripes, i'm going to have to do that

i recently converted my stock interior bulbs to red LEDs.
makes the interior much more unique.

left = new LED bulb. right = old stock bulb

i'd be scared to mess up something w/ the speedo or tach or all the gauges, but looks good!!

Wow. I haven't updated this in forever!
Since the last time i've updated this i've added the following:

SVE lowering springs. These lowered the car 2.08" with all isos in.

Then added a Lethal performance windshield banner.

I also got around to repainting my emblem.

I then scored a s281 wing off ebay for $80.

Then i finally finished converting my HVAC controls to red.

Up next was some super bright 20-bulb LED's for my license plate.

After all that was done, i got new 8mm Bosch spark plug wires and NGK spark plugs to fix a cylinder misfire that i was having.

Next up was a new exhaust system.

I decided to go with these bad boys:

SLP LM1 resonators with 2.5" turndowns.
This is probably my favorite mod to date. The tone is super aggressive and gives my car the sound it deserves. I have 1 video of the new setup, but its not the greatest quality.

After the new exhaust, i got these from a buddy on another forum for $35 shipped.

Next i painted my intake couplets red:

Around late february, American muscle was having a special on chin spoilers, so i decided to order one. Only payed like $60 for it.

I then got a 'sortaflush' sticker, and new red bumper inserts:

Then i found this treasure on amazon for like $10. Its a 3" carbon fiber antenna.

And this bring us to the most recent mod i've done; the black housing headlights:
