The never before 98GT blower setup

hey there guys! so here is the deal, I have a 98GT and I have completed the PI head swap with patriot performance stage II heads, comp cams with the typhoon II intake manifold, K&N cai 75mm throttle body and so on...down below I have an off road x pipe and flowmaster super 40 series, baer 14' rotors with the 6 piston calipers (baer pro +) a Tremic t-56 6 speed, McCleod rst twin disc clutch. the the project on hand is a whipple supercharger on top of the intercooled tork tech intake manifold. my car is currently making 307 RWHP and 312 lb-ft torque. now here is the kicker...the blower we are putting on is a 3.4l. Yes my bottom end is built for it, but what I'm looking for is input on what to expect and general input on the build. anything is helpful. I had to get a custom made crank pulley made because with the standard pulley and a 4" blower we would be making about 18-20 lbs of boost. We are making a custom 6" pulley to get somewhere between 12 and 14 lbs... I'm excited for the project to come to life but I know that I need wisdom from the more experienced people that drive with boost, cautions, and things to expect!

lol, thats true. the torktech intake manifold takes the 99-04 GT manifold and cuts the top of it off and makes it the same as the 03-04 cobra. and it essentially becomes a cobra top end. check it out www.torktech.com

I am running a whipple 2.9 right now running 10-11 lbs on my stock bottom end I am making 470 to the tire. anywho what is the compression your running right now? if your running 8.5:1 I would say you would be in the 500-520 rwp ball park.

Looks like you are going to have a monster on your hands. That is a huge blower. Depending on the tune 475+ rwhp is probably the near outcome. Is your rearend ready also?Thumbs up to you for doing something different.

lol, thanks guys! if you have any interest, the car is currently over at CCC motorsports with Greg Rentis doing the install! It should take a couple weeks or so to complete. I can't wait to see what the outcome is! compression is 8.5:1 and I'm not sure what you mean by the rearend... It currently has 3.73's but if your asking about the axles, no I have not upgraded to the 31 spline yet... what is the value/ reason to do that?

Upgraded differential, axles, etc. That's gonna be a lot of torque to put through a stock rearend.

Your stock axles are rated at 4165 ft/lbs of torque. If you run your numbers as follows, you'll know if they are strong enough: RWTQ X 3.73 X 1st gear ratio X .90 = axle torque

Example 500Torgue X 3.73 X 2.66 X .90 = 4464.81 (BROKEN AXLE)

Additionally, your 8.8 Differential is another weak point. When you upgrade your axles, upgrade the differential...the spider geears will not hold up!!!

So the good news is it looks like our final numbers are in on this beast of a project... We have one last problem, my aftermarket 2000 cobra R hood....isn't tall enough. :( We ended up with 569RWHP and 602 Lb-ft of torque. I agree with MustangCWO, but also dislike lol. Because after calculations using your information (pending accuracy on the Tq rating) my numbers are in fact in the red... The transmission is a tremec
T-56 with the 2.66 first gear ratio. I guess we'll see how long the rear end holds up... fingers crossed!!!

Congrats on the numbers and good luck with the axles. You never know when they will break; but if you never put slicks on the car, you should be OK.

well boys, I got her back a few weeks ago! She's vicious! Did a few little upgrades here and there since I got her back, headlights and fogs, rear seat delete, did the "fog light mod" as in having the fog lights on without the headlights. and last but not least I did the axle and diff swap. Here are a couple pictures of the beauty completed! Hope you enjoy as much as I do! :)

Oh...and update on the final power numbers, after a few adjustments and calculations we ended up with 575 RWHP and 675 lb-ft of torque! She's fast...but is it bad that I was expecting it to be faster?! ;)
